The Parliament

Mohammed V Avenue - Rabat

Located on Mohammed V Avenue in the center of Rabat, the Moroccan Parliament is an iconic building in the country’s political life. Inaugurated in 1929 under French protectorate, it now houses the two legislative chambers: the House of Representatives and the House of Councillors. Its sober and elegant neo-Moorish architecture blends perfectly with the modern urban environment of Rabat. The façade is recognizable by its large red columns and esplanade, often the scene of citizen gatherings and symbolic events. Although the building is not open to visitors, it is a must-see attraction when strolling through the city center. It bears witness to Morocco’s institutional evolution and Rabat’s place as the political capital of the Kingdom.
